Thank you for your interest in exhibiting at KOOLA Art Space! You can find all detailed information regarding the space and your exhibition on this page.
Our gallery, located in Kallio, Helsinki, is operated by Taidetila Koola ry, a non-profit, artist-run association. Exhibition fees cover the cost of the venue and supervision. Promotion, cleaning, and all other work are carried out on a voluntary basis without salary.
Thus, keep operations fair, secure, and sustainable, all artists are required to agree to the following guidelines:

The exhibition period at KOOLA Gallery means the time during which the exhibition is on display within the gallery’s opening hours (including installation and dismantling).
KOOLA is not a private rental venue. Artists do not receive keys, and the space cannot be used for personal purposes or according to the artist’s own schedule during the exhibition period.
Use of the space always takes place under supervision and according to pre-agreed schedules.

Note: There is no back room, kitchen, or storage area in the space.

KOOLA staff supervise the exhibitions. Artists cannot supervise their own exhibition, but you are of course welcome to visit during opening hours.
Opening hours are determined individually for each exhibition. The gallery is generally open 4–5 days per week, depending on timing.
Final opening hours are confirmed after installation, opening reception, and dismantling schedules have been agreed with the artist.

Installation and dismantling must take place within the exhibition period, and the space must be empty by 7:00 PM.
Our walls do not tolerate repeated drilling, so artworks should primarily be mounted using nails, hanging hooks, or tape. Most works do not require drilling.
Paintings under 8 kg can usually be mounted without issue using nails or hooks.
A single hanging hook typically supports around 5 kg, depending on the hook type, and multiple hooks can be used together.
Drilling is allowed only if absolutely necessary, and permission must be requested at least two weeks before the exhibition.
It is not allowed to drill or nail into the hanging panels.
All works must be removed and wall marks repaired by 7:00 PM on the final day of the agreement.
A €150 cleaning/storage fee will be charged for any artworks left behind or unrepaired damage.
Basic tools are available in the space, including:

Electronic devices may not be left on when the gallery is closed. All electronic equipment (screens, etc.) must be switched off when the gallery is closed.

The opening reception time is agreed individually.
The artist is responsible for refreshments and event arrangements, except for final cleaning, which is handled by KOOLA staff.
Maximum duration: 2 hours
Must end by 7:00 PM
Preparation may begin 1 hour before
The event must comply with fire safety and building regulations (no loud music).

The artist is responsible for dismantling their exhibition.
The dismantling schedule is agreed individually with each artist, but dismantling must take place during the exhibition period.
The artist is responsible for removing all works from the premises according to the agreed schedule.
KOOLA staff are responsible for cleaning and tidying the walls.

KOOLA staff are responsible for cleaning the space.

KOOLA promotes exhibitions on social media and event listings.
The artist must provide materials (text and images) well in advance:
preferably 1 month before
at latest 2 weeks before the exhibition
Printing of brochures, posters, artwork labels, and catalogs is the artist’s responsibility.
The gallery provides:

Exhibition Agreement
Signed electronically with Taidetila Koola ry.
The agreement becomes valid after signature and payment. Payment can be made in installments.
The agreement covers:

exhibition period
dismantling
KOOLA takes no commission — artists handle all sales transactions themselves.
Cancellations
If the artist cancels: no refund
If KOOLA cancels: full refund
Insurance and Liability
Artists insure their own artworks.
KOOLA does not provide insurance and is not responsible for external damage or theft.
Artists are responsible for any damage caused to gallery property during installation, exhibition period, or dismantling.
