Exhibition Opportunities

KOOLA offers artists 1–3 week exhibition periods, as well as group exhibitions in both the main gallery and the KOOLA Window gallery. Exhibition slots are applied for through open calls. The duration and themes of group exhibitions vary depending on the exhibition.

You can apply for a solo exhibition individually, as a duo, or as a group. The gallery space is located in Kallio, Helsinki, and is approximately 25 m². The total hanging space is about 30 m²: two walls (4.6 m x 3 m each), plus a hanging panel (1.5 m x 2.5 m) designed for lighter works that can be attached with tape. You can find the floor plan here.

Supervision and publicity are handled by us, allowing you to concentrate on your own work.

Is KOOLA the right fit for you?

KOOLA is a good fit for you if you:

  • Are looking for an affordable, non-profit, artist-run space to present your work.

  • Appreciate that your exhibition includes supervision and publicity, so you don’t have to sit in the gallery yourself or handle event listings.

  • Value clear structures and schedules that help your exhibition run smoothly.

  • Understand that KOOLA is entirely volunteer-run, and therefore operates with clear guidelines and agreed practices.

Please note

  • KOOLA is not a private rental space — for security reasons, artists are not given keys, and exhibitions cannot be self-supervised. Access to the space is always supervised and follows agreed schedules.

Solo exhibition fees

  • 1 week: €270

  • 2 weeks: €530

  • 3 weeks: €765

Each exhibition period includes installation, deinstallation, and the opening event. The exhibition fee covers only the basic expenses of the space. Supervision, publicity, and cleaning are provided on a voluntary basis, and we kindly ask artists to keep this in mind. KOOLA does not take commission on sales. Artists are responsible for the payment transactions and insuring their own works as well as covering any printing costs (e.g. exhibition catalogues, if desired).

You can find the detailed artist info here.
