Panu Pahkamaa

Panu Pahkamaa (b. 1982) is a Finnish photographer and visual artist working with photography, video, and alternative photographic techniques. His work is inspired by nature, as well as by the small details of everyday life that often evolve into artworks offering an alternative way of seeing the familiar. His recent practice has been shaped by slow processes and chance.

Taika Oja

For me, making art is a way of exploring the things that matter to me and trying to understand processes that take place on an emotional level. My artistic practice is connected to processing emotions that are difficult to put into words. For the most part, my work explores feelings arising from different experiences that have had a significant impact on my life.

I hold a Master of Arts degree from Aalto University, where I studied in the Photography programme, and a degree in photography from the Institute of Design at Lahti University of Applied Sciences.

Kasperi Holopainen

I primarily work with oil paintings. At the moment, I am inspired by other people, unusual animals, and observations based on my surroundings. My work is characterized by combining the real world with surrealism, creating a slightly distorted version of reality in each painting.

Aina Melis

Aina Melis (b. Mallorca, Spain) is a visual artist based in Turku, Finland. Her practice explores balance, perception, time, repetition, structure, and gradual transformation.

At the core of her work is the gradient, understood not only as a visual device but as a way of approaching change. Her surfaces move slowly from one tone to another, allowing transformation to unfold through measured steps and subtle variation. Drawing, particularly with graphite and color pencils, plays a central role in this process. Through repeated marks, she builds tonal fields and textures where each line records time, attention, and rhythm.

Parallel lines are a significant element of her visual language. Repeated sequences create rhythms reminiscent of breathing or walking, gradually forming structures that evoke walls, staircases, corridors, and other architectural spaces. Her interest in construction and built environments emerges through these compositions, where repetition creates solidity and presence.

Circles and modular forms often accompany these linear systems, reinforcing ideas of continuity and proportion. Balance is achieved not through strict symmetry, but through measured relationships between elements.

Working across drawing, linocut, and collage, Aina maintains a strong focus on process. Her visual language connects geometric abstraction with architectural thinking, while the visible trace of the hand introduces warmth and subtle imperfection. Repetition, rhythm, and structured forms are deeply connected to her way of experiencing and navigating the world, shaping both her artistic language and working process.

Zoia Khivrenko

My artistic practice is situated between sculpture, printmaking, and installation, with a strong focus on process, materiality, and experimentation. Rather than approaching art through a fixed concept or predetermined result, I work through exploration — allowing materials, textures, and spatial relationships to shape the direction of the work. Experimentation becomes a method of thinking, through which I continuously develop and transform my visual language.
I am interested in themes of memory, trace, silence, emptiness, time, and existential experience. These subjects appear in my work through abstract and symbolic forms that often resist direct narration. I am drawn to the tension between presence and absence, fragility and permanence, material and void. My works are predominantly monochromatic and rely on subtle interactions between surface, space, rhythm, and the physical presence of materials.

The process itself plays a central role in my practice. Through repetition, layering, reduction, and transformation, I attempt to create works that function not as fixed statements, but as open spaces for perception and contemplation. I am particularly interested in how materials can contain emotional and psychological traces, and how abstraction can communicate states that are difficult to express verbally.

Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, I am currently studying sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana (ALUO), where I continue to expand my practice across different media and approaches.

Arina Tagmazian

Arina Tagmazian is a Helsinki-based mixed media artist. Primarily self-taught, she works with watercolor, soft pastel, acrylic, and oil paints. Having adopted her love of art from her mother in early childhood, Arina has carried it with her throughout her life, through all challenges and successes. Arina believes that art is a form of meditation, antidote to scrolling, and a powerful way to recharge the mind. Her work celebrates life in all its forms, featuring diverse subjects from natural landscapes and cityscapes to ballet dancers and intuitive compositions. Through her art, you can reconnect with yourself and the world around you.

Anette Kemppainen

I’m an artist based in Helsinki, with a lifelong passion for painting and creative expression. I am channeling my academic background in social science into my artistic practice, shifting from writing essays to creating socially engaged and surreal artworks. Thus, my work often explores themes such as social inequality, embodiment, and emotional intensity using color, form, and symbolism to provoke reflection and dialogue. I believe art can be both beautiful and ugly, and I strive to spark dialogue through pieces that challenge norms and provoke reflection.

Aurora Collan

Aurora Collan is a singer, musician, and music educator whose musical expression brings together tango, Finnish schlager, and classical vocal music. She is trained as a musician and music educator and is also known as the winner of the 2023 TangoMaestro singing competition.

Alongside music, Collan has practiced visual arts and ceramics since childhood. For several years, she has further developed her ceramic practice through courses at adult education centres. For her, ceramics serves as a parallel form of artistic expression to music, emphasizing intuition, emotion, and working with her hands. Her works often feature organic forms, mythical creatures, fantasy worlds, and symbolism drawn from nature.

The Fish (Kala), presented in the Blues(s) group exhibition, is one of Collan’s power animals. Its strength and ability to experience joy are found in the deep waters, beneath immense pressure—conditions that many people would consider impossible.

Aunis Ahonen is an illustrator and visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Aalto University (School of Arts, Design and Architecture) in Finland.
