Giovanna Incerti

Under the Same Sky

Giovanna Incerti is an Italian artist living and working in Finland. Originally trained in Economics (MSc), she had a professional career in a multinational company in Rome. After moving to Tampere with her family, she chose to dedicate herself fully to her artistic practice, which she had initially pursued in Italy as a personal interest. Before relocating, she attended courses in painting and ceramics in Italy and Belgium, and in Finland she further developed her skills with courses in bronze casting and jewellery-making.

Her recent work has evolved towards a language that brings together ceramics and metals, merging the skills acquired throughout her practice. Raku, a traditional Japanese firing technique valued for its unpredictability and unique results, plays a central role in her ceramic research. Deeply inspired by the natural world, her sculptures explore themes of transformation, interconnection, and coexistence, expressing both fragile beauty and quiet strength.

Under the Same Sky brings together ceramic and metal sculptures created by the artist Giovanna Incerti.
Through a symbolic and sculptural language, the exhibition explores the relationship between humanity and the natural world. The fragility of clay and the solidity of metal enter into dialogue, shaping forms that reflect on resilience and coexistence, as well as on imbalance and environmental exploitation.
Each sculpture resonates with the idea that ecosystems are deeply interconnected, challenging the illusion that human life exists independently from nature.

The exhibition raises a recurring question with no clear answer: why do we take from the planet in the name of necessity, overlooking that the consequences inevitably return to us?

Together, the works invite us to recognize a simple truth: despite our differences, we all exist under the same sky, shared, finite, unforgiving, and ultimately, the only one we have.

Under the Same Sky is presented under the patronage of the Italian Institute of Culture of Helsinki.
