I paint easily recognizable images and texts from popular culture and bring them into the context of painting. In them, there is a glimmer of empathy, a first step into the light. My works combine expressive and controlled brushstrokes, writing, and drawing. In this way, I create tension and contradiction between the inner and outer worlds.

Through my series of works, I construct worlds that resist rational explanation. Understanding becomes secondary, while looking takes priority. I strive for a kind of minimal maximalism and effortlessness, even to the point of wasting space and the work itself. In those moments, something immediate and clear happens. There is something sublime in this simplicity.
