Meet the artists
Milla Adeliina Vainio
Milla Vainio is a sculptor and Master of Art based in Helsinki. She graduated with a degree in Contemporary Design from Aalto University and has worked extensively across various artistic mediums, exploring both two- and three-dimensional forms. Her artistic practice focuses particularly on ceramics-drawing influences from printmaking and pattern design. An exploratory approach to materials defines her working process, embracing experimentation. Vainio respects the natural tendencies of materials and is currently exploring figures and their essence through ceramics. Her works blend human likeness with organic forms, appearing as if born from the earth while simultaneously belonging to an unknown world. They invite the viewer to imagine alternative realities, balancing between the familiar and the unfamiliar.

Saara Simonen
Saara Simonen (b. 2001) is a visual artist and aesthetics student from Helsinki, a wanderer along the shores, and a collector of reflections, dreams, depths, and light-filled visions. Recently, her work has focused on themes of ecological grief and memory traces in landscapes. She has been particularly interested in water, reflections, and swimming—the tactile experience of water as a material. Simonen’s bodies of work are often rich in materials and multidimensional, supporting the spatiality of painting. The primary materials in her works include acrylic paints, recycled textiles, polymer clay, and various small objects.

Marjaana Markkula
I am a multidisciplinary artist working in Turku, graduating from the Turku Arts Academy in 2025, and having studied at the Free Art School and Taidekoulu Maa. My work includes sculpture, installations, paintings, and drawings. In my art, I explore the relationship between humans and nature, while also delving into the deep and dark waters of the subconscious by visualizing my dreams. On one hand, I strive to experiment with new approaches, but I also create drawings and paintings using traditional techniques.
With my artwork Post-It Love, I want to highlight the importance of small everyday gestures of love.

Kasperi Leo Holopainen
My artistic style is often highly abstract and expressive. I draw a lot of inspiration from nature, space, and mythology. Through my works, my goal is to delve deeper into myself, as creating art is my way of expressing my emotions and thoughts. My artworks also serve as windows into a world that does not exist. I want to create art that evokes strong emotions, raises questions, and makes people pause and reflect. I see each piece as a diary entry of my inner world, and I strive to work on my art daily. The size of my works varies greatly—some of my largest pieces span several meters in width, while the smallest ones are about the size of a postcard. The titles of my works come from the dates they were completed.
My relationship with art dates back to my childhood when drawing was an everyday habit for me. I have always felt a strong need to express myself visually, and this passion has only grown over the years. I have experimented with and created art using various techniques and styles, ranging from drawing and painting to large-scale installations. Currently, I am in a phase where I focus on collage works, which have been highly inspiring and require a completely different way of thinking compared to other visual arts. Each technique has been a learning experience for me—an opportunity to develop both myself and my artistic expression.

Mariia Sennikova
I am a visual artist based in Helsinki, I have graduated from the Turku Academy of Arts in 2023. My artistic work is very diverse: I work with painting, printmaking, crafts and performance. In my works, I often deal with human vulnerability in the face of global events. The feeling of loneliness, fears, anxiety, the longing to be somewhere else, the longing to become something else. The desire to change the world and at the same time the understanding of how small we all are in the end. My works have been exhibited, among others, at Amos Rex in the Generation 2023 exhibition and at Taiteen Talo in Turku.
