Pekka Pitkänen is a 54-year-old newcomer to the visual arts. He graduated in 2025 from the Turku Arts Academy as a photographic artist. Before working in the field of visual art, he worked as a lighting and video designer.

In his work, Pitkänen often explores themes related to forgotten, abandoned, and left-behind things and phenomena.

“As a child, I believed that summer would last forever. It was warm and hazy. You could lie on the beach and read Donald Duck comics endlessly.

But even in that carefree atmosphere, something inexplicably threatening crept in early on. Perhaps a fear that summer might not last forever after all.”
