Application for Spring 2026 Exhibition Slots

KOOLA is offering artists 1- or 2-week exhibition slots in spring 2026. Exhibitions will be held in our gallery space in Kallio, Helsinki (Pengerkatu 9). You can apply individually, as a duo, or as a group. We take care of supervision, cleaning, and publicity so you can focus on your work.

Applications are open October 1–15, 2025, and decisions will be announced no later than November 15, 2025. The application form can be found below.

KOOLA is a non-profit space run entirely by volunteers. For this reason, we ask all applicants to carefully read the information below before applying:

Is KOOLA the right place for you?

KOOLA is suitable for you if:

• You want an affordable, non-profit, artist-run space to present your work.

• You value having supervision, cleaning, and publicity included in your exhibition period, without needing to staff the gallery yourself or manage event listings.

• You appreciate clear structures, schedules, and smooth communication regarding your exhibition arrangements.

• You understand that KOOLA operates fully on volunteer work, which is why we follow agreed practices and schedules closely.

Please note:

• The exhibition period at Koola Gallery refers to the time during which the exhibition is prepared and on display, within the gallery’s opening hours. KOOLA is not a private rental space: artists are not given keys, and the gallery cannot be used during the exhibition period for other personal purposes or according to one’s own schedule. The use of the space always takes place under supervision and according to agreed-upon schedules.

• KOOLA does not have separate storage or a kitchen.

• If you are looking for a space where you can host late or large parties, have your own keys, set your own opening hours, or supervise your exhibition yourself, KOOLA is not the right fit.

Exhibition fees and space details

• 1 week: €270 (can be paid in 1 or 2 installments)

• 2 weeks: €530 (can be paid in 1–3 installments)

The gallery is located in Kallio, Helsinki, and is approximately 25 m² in size. There is about 30 m² of hanging space: two walls (4.6 m x 3 m) plus a hanging panel (1.5 m x 2.5 m) for lighter works that can be attached with tape. You can find the floor plan.

The exhibition period includes setup, takedown, and an opening event. The exhibition fee covers the basic costs of the space. Volunteers carry out supervision, publicity, and cleaning.

KOOLA does not take any commission on sales. Artists are responsible for handling their own transactions, insuring their works, and covering any potential printing costs (e.g., exhibition catalogues, if desired).
